OK so I’m embarrassed to admit I’m not familiar at all with this woman. She awesome! Great performance. As to how it relates to Cura… I’ll have to think about that bit more, I get the idea it supposed to a soundtrack for the next few pages but ,you know, I’ve not really thought about the song that much. Not a big Elton John fan. I don’t hate him. Just don’t love him. When this album came out I was in Jr high and focused on band and weird electronic music.
I went through a phase where I was not as fond of Elton myself. Then I listened to the Captain Fantastic album, and it changed a lot of that perspective. Yellow Brick Road is a bit word salad, but that salad fit Cura really well. Plus, this version, the one above, was in my ear the week I wrote the finale quite a lot, and it helped me deal with the difficulty of the thing ending.
This was February of 2015, so my memory of it is more archived, if you will, but that version of the song, like “Together We’re Both Alone” will probably be the two musical Cura memory bookends for me.
