I’m confused. There are 14 “blam”s here… but on page 8 (Supper Time) we see the revolver opened, and there are only 6 spots or chambers or whatever they’re called for bullets. Is this page somehow an indicator of the guy successfully killing himself in 14 other worlds/ dimensions/ universes/ whatever? If so… it’s a little unclear, sorry.
No worries, you’re not crazy. It’s supposed to be a WTF? moment. This is, in fact, an indicator that this is happening on multiple worlds at the same time, and, as you’ll see, will become a recurring motif and theme in the story. That’s the death of fourteen Charlies, and one very special Charlie being saved (getting lucky, basically).
I think this is implying the process of quantum suicide.
Imagine a multiverse, so instead of this one universe we live in being the only one, there are an infinite amount. All of these universes originated at the same point (i.e. started the same), however each universe is different. This is due to choice. Every single choice ever made by anyone or anything at any point has set a universe on a slightly different tangent. This is a very oversimplified explanation.
Basically quantum suicide dictates that the difference between you pulling the trigger and not pulling the trigger is a single atomic particle. In other words, in an infinite number of universes, you pulled the trigger, and in another infinite number of universes you didn’t, while in even another infinite number of universes you didn’t exist (this last option is not displayed here). SO this panel is displaying 14 universes where the protagonist died, and the final one is a universe where he did not.

Hope that helped!
Forgot to say, looks like the beginning of an awesome story!
Thank you!
