Ok, I love what Dex can do with a page. With that said (and he has some truly awesome work), if there is not even just a tiny bit of plot development in the next update, it will take the entire multiverse to fill my glass of murder. Neal, I’m looking at you. Fondly, and with great love, develop. the. freaking. plot.
This is Charlie Prime and Dark Everet – did you think it would be a fricken Mario Cart kinda battle? Look at the freaking fight scene Trebor – look at the backgrounds and see some of the plot replayed in what’s portrayed in the background. Then get back in your box.
No, but realize three things before you continue to spew your oh so lovely hatred. One, realize exactly how long this has gone on (especially given that some of us begin checking this site for updates at our local midnight). Two, this for me is finals week, I am wound super tightly and wouldn’t be so frustrated if I didn’t love this story. Three, no matter how many of the awesome Dex created pages we go through, the end of the fight will be the same. So unless there is a specific reason we’re being carried back through multiple universes (and it being 6:44 local I very well could’ve missed a reason) please get off my lawn.
I’m going to take the previous two comments from Trebor in what I hope was the spirit intended, which is a desire to see more story, faster, which is a compliment… one thing I have to insist upon, however, is folks not sniping at each other on the comments. Opinions are cool, going after each other is something I can’t have, at least, on MY lawn. Respect is of the utmost importance to me, and though I appreciate passion, I have to have peace.
That said, to address your concerns, there is (at least to me) a very specific plot point to this. As Charlie and the Dark Everett have their first marked confrontation, they are, either consciously or subconsciously (you’ll have to see as the plot develops) hitting upon many of the events of the recent past of the comic. If this feels rock-em sock-em to no end, I would ask you to consider whether or not these are the Dark Everett’s memories, or Charlies? Or, more importantly, for a comic that’s rather obsessive about continuity, where are their stones? There’s a BIG OL’ FIGHT going on, sure, but there are also some things seeded in here, for people who want to look, or ask questions.
We do labor to make the plot turn fast, and we’d love to be five days a week or twenty-two pages a month, but the biggest reason we’re not isn’t lack of passion or a desire to anger any of you, it’s finance. I don’t work slow to torture you, I work slow to torture me, so I can keep this comic going. Alas, I finished my own final finals better than ten years ago, and have yet to earn many dollars turning the soil of words (I am amazed often at the line I skate to keep this comic going). Every page produced is cash from my already strapped pocket, so if a page comes to pass, it’s because I’ve looked at it and found a good reason for it. In this particular sequence, the titles are the best cues.
Sorry for being a nob Trebor. I withdraw my box comment and offer an apology. I saw your ‘freaking’ and raised it three more times completely without cause. My point was to see the backgrounds as part of the plot development, and I could have said that far more nicely than I did, fairly much as Neal did.
The drawings are just spectacular in these pages. Are they in Naked World in the third panel? If so, nice touch. I love their facial expressions. The girl’s like, ‘what the hell?’ and the guy’s like, ‘dammit. Cockblocked.’
I almost expect a [puts finger somewhere near nose] for this, but….
I think the ‘missing’ stones points to an interesting ley line-esque concept: Is this proof that CP and DE are supposed to be one and the same (as we have been subliminally believing all along), meaning the ability to open portals (as we also have surmised) is not endemic to the iRock but to the user(s) themselves?
….and by virtue of DE trying to force the loop (as someone commented earlier, it sucks when your younger self won’t validate who you are now, the Doctor did it with Sardik in A Christmas Carol, a couple years back), it’s feedbacking them through all the places they’ve visited and yet also Prime still won’t give in to DE….
or I could just be so out of it right now this only makes sense to me LOL
This is neither proof nor denial that Dark Everett and Charlie are one and the same (or not, for that matter).
You are heading in the right direction logically, but there is something you can’t forsee likely obstructing the logic, something that’ll come into play more early in Year Three.
Someday, when this is optioned for either a way cool japanime/American co-production ala Afro Samurai, or an edgy cable live action adaptation (NakedSexFuckWorld assures this 😉 ), this particular sequence from Season 2 is going to have ‘Mind. BLOWN.’ written all over it 🙂

Coitus Interruptus was never so cool.

Heya, man!
No, it’s not Billie. That’d be temporally… messy.

I knew it was too much to ask….LOL

That’s not Billie that the brawl is coitus interrupting, is it? LOL
