Or Charlie Prime could be St. Jimmy in the Broadway play based on Green Day’s American Idiot. I bet Billie would get a kick out of that, especially since Billie Joe Armstrong played that role onstage briefly.
Believe it or not, I have written a screenplay for American Idiot. I wrote it in 2004, and it’s been gathering dust ever since. I can’t afford to go see the play, so I don’t know what was made of it, but in my version, St. Jimmy was the best part of the Jesus of Suburbia, so it would very much make sense for Charlie to play him.
But, knowing Charlie, I doubt he’d play a hero figure. He’d play Richard III, like he did in high school, or more appropriately, Willy Loman.
I’d love to see Charlie Prime audition for something.
Okay, question time for everybody: If you were a Broadway casting director, in what role would you cast Charlie Prime?
I’m thinking Roger in Rent–Charlie Prime would make a good tragic aspiring rock star.
I could see him as Roger as well.

Either Willy Loman or Biff Loman, I think.
