The (nuclear) football joke seemed a little forced. But I love the comic, its one of those rare story concepts that is at once unique, elegantly simplistic, and endlessly fascinating.
Are they nuking the anchor universe? Seems a bit overkill to nuke any other universes unless they know that there are plenty of Charlies hiding there. (And just as I typed that, it occurred to me that “Charlie” is also what the Viet Cong was called. No nukes for them, though.)
I can’t answer the first question without spoiling anything… but I CAN point out that there are plenty of Charlies in the Anchor universe, given that it’s where headquarters and many, many safehouses are (per the conversation on the way to meet Charlene and company).
Charlie isn’t based after the VC term… it’s for Charlie Huston, a writer I admire very much. Everett is after the man who crafted the many-worlds theory.
Wait uhh isn’t Junior like in his twenties at this point? He acts like a 5-year-old sometimes. I had always noted that about his behavior but it didn’t occur to me until just now that he’s actually a full-grown adult. Physically, at least.
Two minutes…to Midnight??
It’s an Iron Maiden song, ironically about nuclear warfare.
I’m familiar with the clock convention… I was just trying to be coy. Cat’s kinda out of the bag now. 🙂
Ah. I see 🙂

(is this a spoiler?)
At this point, I’d say spoilers are okay, given how long the comic’s been done, and even so, that’s a mild one. But, just in case:
SPOILER
Junior is definitely mentally affected by his “origin,” lets say, and has the approximate mental capacity of a five-year-old, yes.
urgh not to mention that he spent his whole life following around a serial killer / mass murderer
