Many thanks to The Geek Likes for a kind look at Cura! Very much obliged.
As another notice/warning/heyyouguuuuuys, the comic will be taking a short break soon as we rebuild a buffer and plan for other nefarious things, including a side story, perhaps, and certainly a/the Kickstarter for Year Two.
There will be content M/W/F here during the break. Dex has some sketches we’re planning on popping up so we can have some in the can and also to keep stuff coming for you guys, and I’ll write an article or two if we need to fill in the gaps talking a little bit about the comic (I’ve been meaning to for a while, but I’ve been writing on a new OGN in the background and finishing a novel).
Monday will be the last day of Year Two. More then!
Hey, folks!
Four Colors and the Truth have once again been kind enough to put Cura on their top twenty list of webcomics for the previous year! Head on over there to check out the article. We’ve very honored to be included among such wonderful folks. Thanks!
On another note entirely, we’re nearing the final pages of this section, the end of “year two,” though the second year mark passed in November. Essentially, I wrote for years, and then as the years have passed, we’ve added pages, took a brief break six months ago, and here we are!
After three hundred pages, Dex has been an incredible trooper, an honest-to-god machine of awesome, so we’re going to give him a little breathing room between this section and the next to build a buffer. Maybe two weeks. I’ll pick up the slack and post here, talk about some of the elements of Cura, so you’ll have content, but there will not be a live page update for a few weeks, unless folks want to send in some fan drawings.
This buffer should, in theory, offer several important rewards to you guys. We’re planning for a Kickstarter for Year Two, and there are some other hidden ideas rolling around that we have to suss.
Have no fear, however, the comic isn’t going anywhere. I mean, heck, I’ve written the entire next year already, so we’re good through 2014. Take care, and Happy New Year!
Hey, folks!
A few updates and things…
First, though you may not know it (I didn’t until Dex informed me, which is unfortunate), a powerful typhoon, Typhoon Pablo, swept through the Philippines and hit Mindanao, near where Dexter is, and the impact was rather devastating (image source). I was reassured to learn that the US has offered aid, but I felt it important that we drop a note here to help folks get informed and perhaps, if you’re able, contribute to aid. Some four hundred people are confirmed dead, and the toll is mounting, and I know that even if you’re a news hawk, like me, this may have slipped your radar.
There is a page here with a ton of information, and another here. I’m not finding a way for people in America to donate, but I’m looking, and when I find one, I’ll update here.
Unrelated to the above, this Saturday I’ll be doing a signing at Odyssey Comics and Coffee, from 1:30 to 7, though the gamut of the signing will be 12-7, featuring a whole host of awesome creators! I will have trades, so if you’re in the area, come say hello!
