New Stuff!

Hey, folks! Check this out… Linda Candello just did a few animations of the pop-ups… they give you a better idea of the depths of the pieces. We’ve also added one more to the store… “I Know Exactly How You Feel.”

Here are the animations, which you can also see at the store…

If they’re not already moving, click on them to check it out.

And in OTHER news… something new, fun, and free is coming down the pike! I know I haven’t updated much lately outside of the comic, but that’s for a few great reasons. First…

PAPER DOLLS.

I know. Crazy, huh? Well, Dex is hard at work on some paper doll prototypes for the site. They’ll be free. Basic deal is, we’ll post the sheet, you print it out on a sheet of paper, and you can make Charlie paper dolls. We’ll release a new “career” every month, starting with original Charlie. Next month, we’ll do the basic Charlene. After that, we’ll do all kinds of things… eventually we’ll release a magnet set to purchase if you guys dig ’em!

That’s one of the things that has been keeping me busy… other than trying to color some of the many posters Dex has made for the comic, and failing. I seem to stink at coloring, but I gave it the old college try.

Well, that and writing through page 125 of year two. That’d be page… god, 281? I have to decide if I want to go by years or page numbers yet. What do you think?

This week I’m gonna get my butt to the copy place and print out a series of posters, and then I’ll offer them here. There are four posters in the can currently, five if you count the black and white evolution, so it’ll be a pretty good selection, something for everyone.

I’ll also be posting more original art.

Anything you guys are wanting that you’re lacking? Feel free to email me.

Original Art, Part the Three (And More!)

So! I have been a bit busy lately, finishing a new novel and scheming, scheming, scheming of new Cura ideas (we have a doozy of one coming your way in the FUTURE (future, future, future)…).

That said, here’s some fun stuff for you all!

First, WALLPAPERS! If you go to this link right here, you will see four new wallpapers that Dex put together for you guys (thanks to John for suggesting the idea!).

Here’s an example:

Also, I have updated the Cura Store with new pages of Dex art, through page 96!

You’ll also note a neat little button on the right side there linking to said art, and a link to the wallpapers, for after this news item cycles. I actively encourage you, if you so desire, to come up with your own wallpapers from Cura images, and I will gladly feature them here with a credit, should you do so!

The Pop-ups have also been updated with new, better images, and a new pop-up version previously unavailable!

Original Art, Part the Two!

Hey, folks!

Phew! I have just spent the last few hours cataloguing and pricing all of Dex’s available original art! We have figured out shipping, prepped it for sale, and reserved pieces for those folks who were goodly enough to shoot an email ahead of time.

For the rest of you, you should check out the Cura Store, more specifically the new Original Art section. I have divided the store up into sections for ease of use, now that there are more than ten items. Makes navigation a lot easier, I think.

ALL of the profits go to Dex, so this is a good cause, and plus, hey, wicked cool art!

If you have any questions, let me know. If not, you’re all set!

Even if you don’t want to buy any pieces, shooting over is well worth a look if you like the comic, because you can see the original pencils, and get a feel for the process, if that kind of thing interests you…

CURA TE POP-UPS, NOW AVAILABLE!

by Neal Bailey on May 17, 2011 at 12:08 am

Long promised and much delayed (mostly because of my last week being hectic), the Cura Pop-Ups by my friend Linda Candello are now available! There are four designs, currently: “Devastation”, “Page One”, “Dark Everett”, and “Portal”, all of which you can get at the Cura Store!

The pictures are basic versions of the page in question, and on Wednesday will be updated to have full looks at the pop-ups in question. I took pictures, but there wasn’t enough light to do them full justice, so I will go at it again Wednesday. But this will give you a good idea of the depth and rad quality involved:

The ones pictured there are “Dark Everett” and “Devastation”.

So huzzah! Feel free to go and buy! Enjoy. Thanks, Linda!

The video that inspired the last two pages (which will make sense shortly in context, in… THE FUTURE!), can be found here:

Very chilling, very well done, and worthy of homage/parody/artistic reinterpretation, methinks. Also a great way to scare a youngster shitless about nukes. Watching documentaries as a kid is how I began to obsess over this subject, and I let Hank have that.
