At this point, I can’t even think of a wild theory. I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Andrus appears to be taking a liking to the Old West.

Actually considering what he’s saying up there about industrialization/urbanization I may be osto something. Perhaps Andrus has rather strong views on how society should be run?

So, he made a deal with the devil. Maybe, Andrus helps DE with his dirty work, DE leaves Andrus alone to play sheriff, instead of constantly trying to kill him? I don’t know.

I’m thinking more “Ha ha ha, you funny guy! I kill you last.”

That would be WAY too obvious! But it’s a nice idea.

I say this is the guy that burries the bodies.

I don’t have a guess as to what the deal is…but consider…the deal and the whole situation are such that he’s not wanting to commit suicide.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Guardian is correct; note that DE *knows* all about Andrus before the first panels we see him in.

Finally, someone appropriately deals with the changing of language across time and geographical isolation. They both speak English, but with such a huge time gap (and who knows where in the world this is), they’re bound to speak very noticeably different dialects.

To be fair, I totally cheated by not letting the folks in the town speak, but yeah, that was what I was trying to skirt.

You see an awful lot of movies with time travel where people pop back in time and can suddenly hold a perfect conversation with someone from a thousand years ago, when I can’t even understand what my own kid is saying half the time.

Language is a beautiful, living thing.
