Looks like we’re about to FACE THE PERIL OF CENTRAL PARK as promised in the year 2 preview.
Also, I wonder if anyone told the new Charlies “Oh hey, FYI, we think Prime may become Dark Everett. Hell, for all we know, any one of you could be Dark Everett.” I imagine being a Charlie would entail living in a state of paranoia…so no, Nerd, I don’t think any part of your subconscious is safe.
Yes, indeed. As of Monday, this comic will get decidedly more…. MORE.
I like the idea of this B crowd story. Especially as a backup. I hadn’t considered doing so until this page, which Dex so wonderfully executed. I mean, I knew we would have a crowd of largely stuck Charlies in the apartment (and that’s dealt with, you’ll see), but I never thought it might be a good story to see what exactly they’re up to (because if they travel, they can’t come back, so they ARE kind of stuck with the consolation of just being alive). And yet, there’s nothing to say they don’t have to dodge neighbors wondering what’s going on, or have nothing to do…
Glad you like the idea of a B-Team story. I think it would make a fun interlude. Sort of a Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead look at Cura Te Ipsum.
It’s funny, but they say so often that Prime might be the younger Dark Everett…and I keep thinking that, except for Charlene for obvious reasons, ANY of them could be a younger Dark Everett. Who knows what things will change between the events of “now,” and whatever causes Everett to “go dark?”
And yeah, I sort of suspect Nerd. Because nerds can get a little psycho after a while, trust me.
Well, my decidedly off-kilter/Nerdesque theory on that goes more like this:
We have no conclusive evidence that DE ever was any other Everett. To go Trek here, IDIC, or Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations says all possibilities are possible in an infinite amount of parallel realities. We saw a bit of that in the CP/Billie walkabout after CP telling his father what-fer, with the dickhead Broadway Charlie, where their common dream of becoming an actor came true, but not so much with a Charlie who is as much like the common Everett (as Lord BaileyMort is aware I have a large unspecified theory on the Charliverse I am working on, but suffice to say the central group we know are what I would consider ‘common’ in this context).
Now I know the next part has been discounted as a raison d’etre for the why of DE, I consider it more of a why for DE:
We can see so far that Charlie has been a lot of things across realities (at least so far as we have seen so far LOL) and I simply think DE is just the total pendulum swing in the nihilistic direction, and that he probably culled any of the weaker, yet similar selves in his rise to become what he is today, and likely tortured them for any information that he could use to eliminate any other selves of consequence.
Once he ran out of (a)morally similar selves, the weight of all that is what made him decide ‘All Charlies Must Die!’ and….I haven’t worked it out any further than that, sorry, but in the end I believe that this subconscious trip they’re currently on (note yes this may be the CENTRAL PARK of preview but just where? Anchor? Imaginary, like the Titanic? Monday, come soon) is going to expand our understanding of the whole shebang in ways we aren’t even aware of yet 🙂
Why do I think Monday’s going to be an epic splashpage showing us that Central Park is surrounded by dinosaurs or tanks or maybe dinosaurs in tanks….LOL
But I definitely sense an epic splashpage awaiting 😉

Ohh more… MORE how ominous.

I’m telling you, just like that one time on Sliders!

Ah, nuts, we need a comment editing function, I didn’t mean for the bold to run the whole comment, sorry 🙁
ok, now if this one comes out bold, I don’t know WTF is happening…
I give up 🙁
I didn’t see bold in the comment edit section under admin… and this isn’t bold, so it’s all good. 🙂
Well, on my screen it goes from the phrase ‘for DE’ on, but if it isn’t appearing for anyone else, that’s all good LOL
and on all the replies/comments since LOL
Just ignore me, I’ll be over in the corner, grinding my jaw 😉
The Nerd is definitely a strange duck. He likes to look at things under the magnifying glass, and that does have its consequences, definitely.
This year, you will see the consequences of his need for that outlet. But that’s all I can say.
