I remember precisely the fact that the page where she gets in the way of the bullet also had every other panel showing that she DID let Leo shoot away, confirming my hunch that the scene – and necessarily the timeline up to that point – was reenacted in parallel universes with only the one timeline (a.k.a. the current continuity) bucking the trend.
I can see how this atmosphere is also conducive of a Dark Everett-to-be.
